  1. The Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board (BAMB) was established by Botswana Government whose mandate is to provide a market for locally grown scheduled crops, whilst ensuring that adequate supplies exist for sale to customers at affordable prices. - BAMB branch contacts Link.
  2. Interested farmers who wish to be registered into the BAMB contract farmer scheme, should visit the BAMB branch office within their farm jurisdiction and express their interest to the BAMB customer service desk.
  3. Collect the registration form and checklist at the BAMB receptionist desk, submit the certified copies of the supporting documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page, in addition to the duly completed registration form in all respect to the BAMB registration office/unit. Any omission of these documents will render the registration process incomplete.
  4. Upon receipt of the application file, the BAMB receptionist will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registration the file for processing and consideration by the BAMBA registration unit.
  5. Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the registration will be communicated to the client in writing /phone/email.
  6. If approved the client will be required to produce their identity card and made to sign a BAMB contract/tender, which stipulates the kind of crop the farmer is to grow, the quantities, and an agreed price that will be charged on the scheduled crop/produce prior to planting, the farmer will also be issued with a BAMB registration card.
  7. On delivery of the scheduled crops, the farmer is paid promptly (i.e. the contracted price within 7 days).

The Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board (BAMB) identifies a market for a particular crop and contracts farmers to produce and supply BAMB with crops such as Sorghum, Maize, Cowpeas, or Beans at agreed prices and quantities before planting. This helps to minimize farmers’ exposure to price risks due to price fluctuations dictated by market conditions, hence empower local farmers to commercialize their arable farming operations.
