Apply In-Person

  1. The application for Bird License or Permit shall be made to the nearest Department of Wildlife & National Park (DWNP) office, which is under the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation, and Tourism. Ministry contact details
  2. Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application form for Bird Licence or Permit, copies of the Application Form are available for free at any of the DWNP offices. Forms are not available online.
  3. The application form duly completed in all respect, and the supporting documents as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page, should be submitted to the DWNP licensing office.
  4. Upon receipt of the application file, the licensing officer will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the file for processing, which is usually within five working days.
  5. The applicant will be required to make payment for the processing fee and obtain a payment receipt.
  6. Applicants will also be issued with an acknowledgment letter as proof of submission of the application.
  7. After the lapse of the processing period, applicants should visit the DWNP office, where the application was filed to check the outcome.
  8. If approved, the permit/license will be drawn up, signed, and stamped by the authorized office and made available for withdrawal by the applicant in person at the DWNP dispatch office, where the application was lodged.
  9. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and acknowledgment letter while collecting the bird License or Permit.

EligibilityEdit

Citizens and Non-Citizens eighteen (18) years and above are eligible to apply.

FeesEdit

The fee charged will be as follows;
Citizens

  • BWP25.00 for a bird hunting season in a year.

Non-Citizens

  • BWP150.00 - one week.
  • BWP300.00 - one month.
  • BWP750.00 - one year.
