Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a Beacon Showing (Re-Identity Land Boundary), the application file should be submitted to the office of the Department of Surveys and Mapping, which is under the of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services. Ministry contact details
  2. Applicants are required to collect the Application Form for Beacon Relocation (RE-IDENTIFICATION) Form, Copies of the Application Form are available for free at any of the Department of Surveys and Mapping offices or directly download it using this Application Form for Beacon Relocation - RE-IDENTIFICATION Link
  3. The application form duly completed in all respect, and the supporting documentation should be submitted to the Department of Surveys and Mapping in Gaborone, Francistown, Selebi Phikwe, or Maun office within the area of the applicants’ jurisdiction either in person, fax or mail.
  4. Upon receipt of the request, the Department prepares a quotation and issue it to the client in person or send it to the client either by post or email or fax.
  5. The client will be required to make payment against the quotation either at the cash desk at the department office and obtain a payment receipt; or using a government voucher, which can be picked up at the Department of Surveys and Mapping or Councils Offices.
  6. It is only after the deposit of the complete file and the payment of the required fee that your application file will be registered for processing.
  7. Applicants will then be issued with an acknowledgment letter as proof of submission of the application, if the request is submitted in person.
  8. The plot beacons will be re-identified and clients will be contacted to set an appointment to be shown the beacons on your plot; within the following timeline from the date of application;
    • Gaborone, Francistown, and Selebi Phikwe is in Three (3) working days
    • Jwaneng, Lobatse and Sowa is in Five (5) working days
    • Gantsi and Kasane Ten is in (10) working days

  • National Identity Card (Omang).
  • Passports (non-citizens only).
  • Copy of certificate/lease.
  • Letter of authorization if not owner, accompanied by certified copy of owner’s ID and authorized person’s ID.
  • Offer letter from Department of Lands or Councils /Title Deed.
  • Proof of payment from Department of Lands or Councils.

Plot owners of State Land or their authorized representative are eligible to receive this service

FeesEdit

Beacon re-identification showings will be charged a fee of BWP600.00 deposit (a minimum of three hours at a rate of BWP200.00 per hour) with an extra BWP200.00 for every hour beyond. This fee is to be paid by cash or cheque.
