- To apply for Financial Support for Women, applicants should visit the Gender Affairs Department (GeAD) Offices at the district council offices in their area; with supporting documents, and express their interest in accessing financial support under the Programme. District Council Office Address
- The GeAD Officer will then verify that all the necessary documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, before issuing the applicant the Registration Application Forms. The copies of the application forms are not available online, and can only obtained them at the nearest the district council offices, GeAD unit.
- The completed Application form, attached to the supporting document should be submitted to Gender Affairs Department (GeAD) Offices at the district council offices.
- The completed Application forms, attached to the supporting documentation;(as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page), should be submitted to the GeAD District Office that covers their respective place of operation and not at Head Office.
- The receiving officer will then verify that all the necessary documentation and information have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file.
- The applicant will then be issued with an acknowledgment letter with a reference number by the GeAD agent for future inquiries that may require clarification by the District Economic Development Committee during the processing period. If summoned by the Committee, applicants will be required to avail themselves for an interview.
- Approved applicants will be registered as beneficiaries of the program and notified of the outcome by phone or in-person by the GeAD district office, where the application was filed and given further instructions.
- Beneficiaries of the program will then be taken through a pre-funding training program by selected service providers for which the government pays.
- The Department of Gender Affairs will disburse the funds based on proposals prepared by the youth after training and also monitor the project.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible for financial support, the following criteria must be met:
- All beneficiaries must be citizens of Botswana.
- Beneficiaries should either be unemployed or have a monthly income of not more than Five Hundred Pula (P500.00).
- Funding will be provided to individual women as sole owners of their businesses.
- Funding will also be provided to groups of two or more people.
- Graduates (young Women) will also be funded under this program and membership will be open to family members as well
- A group may include men; however, their number should not exceed that of women. • The Women Community Based Organizations (CBOs) must be registered with the Registrar of Societies or constituted under the Deeds of Trust in the Deeds Registry of the Attorney General’s Chambers.
- Women’s groups and individual women must be registered with the Companies Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) and produce a copy of a valid certificate of business name/company registration. If the names of beneficiaries do not appear in the certificate, a share certificate will be required where each member will have an equal shareholding. Women’s Groups may also register with any recognized body such as the Department of Cooperatives Development and Agri-Business in the Ministry of Agriculture.
- A Community Project must have a minimum of ten members with at least 70% of the members being women.
- Beneficiaries will be required to undertake an oath (affidavit) to confirm their social and economic status.
- Beneficiaries should be implemented of the funded project.
- Beneficiaries will be expected to open a bank account after approval of their project, which will be accessible to relevant authorities, into which Government financial contribution will be deposited.
- Beneficiaries must route all their purchases through Gender Affairs Department Offices at District levels, for authentication.
- Beneficiaries will undergo relevant technical, financial, and business management training upon approval of their requests.
- Beneficiaries, who have previously benefited from any Government grant or scheme, may only be considered after a thorough assessment.
