Apply In-Person
- General public will be informed by the Land Boards through advertising on local media and through public forums such as Kgotla meetings. These announcements will include details on the land that is available and the period when applications will be accepted.
- You are then required to visit the land board and sub-land board office near you for more information on how to file the application.
- Accurately fill in the application form (Customary Land Rights Application Form) which can be obtained from the above offices or click the link below to download Application Form
- submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below) to the appropriate Land Board or Sub Land Board office during the period specified in the announcement.
- Your application will be verified and processed by the land committee and You will be informed of the result of the application by mail or telephone
- If the land committee is satisfied that you have complied with all the requirements as set for the allocation of the land, you will be notified and receive a Certificate of Customary Grant as evidence of rights to the land specified.

All citizens of Botswana aged 18 years and over are eligible to apply for available of tribal land in any tribal territory or area in Botswana.

- When there are plots (tribal land) on a particular area or land that need allocation, the land will only be allocated to applicants who qualify for allocation

- Marital status
- Spouse detail (if applicable)
- Details about the plot (size, location, intended use,)
- Recommender name and signature
- Names of neighbouring land owners near the site
Need for the DocumentEdit
Tribal lands allocation is administered by the Land Board and Sub-Land Board, who act on the behalf of the ministry of land and housing, where beneficiaries are issued with a Certificate of Customary Grant as evidence of their right to the land specified.
