- The request for Accreditation of Private Garages shall be made to the Central Transport Organisation (CTO) office which is a body under the Ministry of Transport and Communications office, upon Call for applications submission opening; by the CTO through the public gazette or other varies advertising media. Ministry contact details
- Central Transport Organisation (CTO) conducts accreditation of private garages bi-annually; that is in April/May and October/November.
- Interested applicants should respond to the invitation to submit applications for private garage registration and accreditation as advertised in the media by visiting the CTO Headquarters office or any CTO workshop for garages outside Gaborone and express their interest.
- Copies of the application Accreditation of Private Garages forms and the accreditation requirements for each category can be obtained at any of the CTO workshops or head office service desk for free. These forms are not available online.
- The application forms duly completed in all respect, and the supporting documentation, should be enclosed in a manila envelope and should be addressed to the General Manager; Central Transport Organisation and can either be hand-delivered or mailed to the CTO headquarter office, before the application submission deadline.
- Upon receipt of the file, the receiving officer will then verify that all the necessary documentation and information have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the application file for vetting.
- Applicants will be contacted by the Quality Assurance Unit, who at an agreed time will visit the premise/workshop for an inspection and conduct a Preliminary evaluation i.e. check compliance of their accommodation, tools & equipment, etc.
- The final evaluation report is compiled to show which companies met the requirements for accreditation by the Quality Assurance Unit. The report is then sent to Ministerial Tender Committee (MTC) for adjudication with recommendations and all supporting documents.
- Upon completion of the processing process by the Ministry, successful applicants are notified of the approval by the CTO head office. Whereas unsuccessful applicants are written letters with inspection forms attached to show where they did not meet the requirements.
- The certificates of Accreditation of Private Garages are drawn up as directed by the ministry, sign and stamped by the authorized official, and made to be withdrawal by the clients.
- The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document, and approval letter when collecting the certificate and will be required to sign Service Level Agreements (SLAs), upon payment of the applicable certificate fee as mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
- The registration certificate shall be subject to such terms and conditions as the Minster/Authorized officer may deem fit to impose in each case, and such terms and conditions or requirements shall be endorsed on the certificate.

- Copy of valid Trade License (Workshop).
- Copy of valid Tax clearance certificate/exemption thereof, issued and certified by BURS
- Copy of valid Insurance cover outlining the risks covered. This should include Cover against Fire on customer vehicles, Theft, Motor traders internal and external, Defective workmanship, etc.
- Copy of Public Procurement & Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) registration certificate of any of the relevant Services codes depending on services rendered, certified by PPADB
- Copy of Registration Certificates for those with trading names
- Copy of Valid identification document

EligibilityEdit
- Citizen and non-citizen owned garages are eligible to apply
- Accreditation Certificates are issued in three categories as follows:
- Category A-Small cars
- Category B-Trucks and Buses
- Category C-Plant Machinery
FeesEdit
- No fee is charged during the processing.
- Accreditation Certificates are also issued in three (3) classes, and cost the following:
- Class 1-Repairs below BWP 30,000
- Class 2-Repairs between BWP 30,000 and BWP 60,000
- Class 3-Repairs above BWP 60,000
ValidityEdit
- The registration certificate is valid for one year from the date of issue and renewable thereafter. However, non-compliance to certificate conditions will lead to charges and or revocation of the certificate.
