Bihar - How to Pay Electricity Bill

  1. Electricity bill payment for the electricity consumed by a consumer shall be paid to the respective state electricity board (department).
  2. “Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited” (BSPHCL) is a state-owned electricity regulation board operating within the state of Bihar.
  3. The government-run power companies - NORTH BIHAR POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY LTD (NBPDCL) and SOUTH BIHAR POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY LTD (SBPDCL) are in the business of distribution of Electricity in Bihar.
  4. Payment of electricity bill shall be paid by
    1. Pay In-Person
    2. Pay Online
    3. Pay through App
    4. Pay through other sources



Tariff:

  • There are different amount charged for residential and commercial users. The rate of per unit charge varies with state to state and as per the slab decided by the respective electricity board.
  • Following online link provides Tariff Details.


Pay in person

  1. Consumers shall pay their electricity bill at the respective electricity office. Please use the below links to get contact details of respective division. Select the division from the drop down menu as prompted and hit “View” to get the contact information.

  2. Go to the respective division and pay your bill amount along with the bill to make payment.
  3. The counter staff will issue you the receipt for the payment made

Pay Online – through NORTH BIHAR POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY LTD portal

  1. Go to online portal link
  2. Please enter the consumer number and hit “Submit”
  3. User will get details at the bottom of the page for the consumer number provided
  4. Please go through the details. If the details are OK, then enter Total amount, email id, mobile number and select payment gateway finally hit “Confirm Payment” option to reach next window.
  5. In the payment gateway page, please select the type of payment(Credit / Debit / Net Banking) and provide required details at prompted places and hit make payment to reach the successive page.
  6. User should follow the screen prompt for the payment mode selected to complete online payment transaction.
  7. Once the payment is accepted, user will get a transaction acknowledgement. Please keep it saved or printed for future reference.

  Pay Online – through SOUTH BIHAR POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY LTD portal

  1. Go to online portal link
  2. Please enter the consumer number and hit “Submit”
  3. User will get details at the bottom of the page for the consumer number provided
  4. Please go through the details. If the details are OK, then enter Total amount, email id, mobile number and select payment gateway finally hit “Confirm Payment” option to reach next window.

Bihar Bijli Bill Pay(BBBP) Mobile App

  1. This app can be downloaded using the Google play store. Link for download : Play store link
  2. Once the app is installed, user will get the screen with options to choose, please select Instant bill payment option to pay.
  3. Once the next screen reached, please provide the prompted details and proceed for making payment using appropriate option.
  4. Once the payment gateway page is reached, user can select respective payment gateway option to make the payment.
  5. Please fill in the applicable details and follow the screen prompts to progress for completing the online payment process.
  6. Once the payment is made, an acknowledgement for the payment received will be prompted. User can save / print it for future reference


BBPS (Bharath Bill Payment System)

  1. Use the following link to pay at your area BBPS outlet as per pin code: BBPS outlet link
    1. Please select “find nearest Bharat BillPay outlet” option provided at the bottom of the page.
    2. Enter your pin code at the box provided and hit “Go” to reach the next page with contact details. Please follow the page to get the details of payment outlet and pay their directly
  2. Use the following link to pay as per your Bank/Non-Bank for Quick Bill Payment: BBPS Quick bill payment option
    1. Please select the Respective electricity department and follow the screen prompt and proceed further to make the payment


Other Apps to pay

  1. Users shall use the private app’s to make payment of electricity bill. Please make sure with the respective department officials to confirm about these service providers to make payment.
  2. Electricity bill can be paid through following apps Paytm, Amazon, Freecharge, Mobikwik etc,.


Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. The operator will process the application online.
  3. On successful payment submission, the applicant will receive a receipt as acknowledgement.

EligibilityEdit

  • The individual should be a resident of the state.
  • Consumers are eligible to pay the electricity bill.
  • Every applicant has to have a meter reading to calculate consumption

FeesEdit

  • Electricity bills are generated with the slab rates applicable for the units consumed as per the state regulations
  • As a consumer, it is mandatory to pay prescribed amount as advised by respective board. (even the electricity is not consumed, each states has different default charges levied to its active consumers and the same has to be paid)

ValidityEdit

  • The electricity bill generated for the period has to be paid before the due date.
  • There will be a penalty for late payment. Authorities has the power to suspend the connection
  • This payment is valid for the consumed electricity units
