Bhutan - Renew Or Duplicate a Driver License

ProcedureEdit

Proceed to the nearest office in the applicant's location. For the list of where you can go, please see the 'Office Locations and Contacts' section in this page. OR visit the RSTA website for duplication and renewal. Pay the prescribed fee, select the regional office from where you want to collect the license from.

Duplicate LicenseEdit

  • You can contact the Authority that can issue a replacement license.
  • You have to pay the prescribed fee.
  • For the duplicate license to be issued, you have to have proper verification/clearance from the offices of the Authority and the Traffic Police.

RenewalEdit

The Authority may require an applicant for renewal to:

  • Fill in an application form in case of change in personal information.
  • Provide any additional information (including any evidence that the Authority may reasonably require as to those particulars)
  • Provide one latest passport size photograph
  • Pay the prescribed fee.

The Authority may refuse to renew a driving license or grant license variation if the:

  • applicant has not completed with a procedure or requirements under the Act and Regulations;
  • Authority believes that the applicants license should not be renewed or extended or variation given;
  • person has not passed the test in case of a request for license variation; and
  • person is a repeat offender.
