Procedure

1. The applicant must submit a duly completed application form to register a death within 30 days from date of its occurrence at the CC/ DCRCO/ Thromde/ DCRC HQ offices. applications that will be submitted beyond that period will only be accepted at the DCRC, HQ.
2. The applicant must also submit the death notification issued by competent authorized such as Hospitals and Gups.
3. Death certificate may be collected from the CC/ DCRCO/ Thromde/ DCRC HQ offices.

Required Documents

• Completed application form.
• Death notification.
• Original citizen identity/SRP card (Bhutanese and SRP card holder) or copy of identification documents of the deceased (non-Bhutanese).
• Copy of Identification documents of the requestor/applicant.
• Documents required for unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies:
  • MoH with assistance from RBP, RSTA, Thromde CRCO/Gup will issue be the one issuing the death notification.

Eligibility

All deaths that occurred within the territorial jurisdiction of Bhutan.

Fees

• Application is Free
• Except for the service charge payable at the community center, if the application is to be submitted at the Community Center (CC).

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
e.g. Birth Certificate Valid Forever

Processing Time

Death certificates will be released within 30 days from the date the application was submitted.

• Community Center (CC)
• Dzongkhag Civil Registration and Census Office (DCRCO)
• Thromde Administration
• Department of Civil Registration and Census, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, (MOHCA)
