Apply by Mail:
- Prepare all the required documents you need for your application, ensure that you have gathered all the supporting documents as required.
- Obtain the application form online through the government of Bermuda website: Website or download it form the link provided in “Documents to Use” section below.
- Read the information provided in the application form carefully as you fill the form.
- Double check the required documents in section 4 of the application form.
- Submit the complete application to the Custodian of Historic Wrecks, Department of Conservation Services Headquarters, via mail through to this address (Shorelands, 17 North Shore Road, Flatts FL 04. Mailing Address: PO Box FL145, Flatts FL BX. Telephone 293-2727.)
- The Department will examine your application and if the application meets all the required documents, it will be processed and you will receive a feedback through the contacts that you provided.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Specifications of the area to be covered by the license and demarcation of the site
- Description of the surrounding environment of the site
- The objectives of the project
- The methods and techniques to be employed
- The composition, qualifications and experience of the project team
- Documentation of the project
- The field stabilization and conservation of the artefacts
- An undertaking to provide a copy of the records of the project to the Custodian of Historic Wrecks within six months of completion of the project
- A letter stating that all activities taking place under a license should not involve unnecessary risks and must conform to recognized safe operational practice for the type of work being carried out
- A letter releasing the Government of Bermuda from any liability that may arise from the project
- Registration details and description of support vessels
- Contact details for owner and/or boat pilot

InstructionsEdit
- There three classes of the license you can apply;
- Pre-disturbance survey license
- License to excavate on an open wreck
- License to excavate on a closed wreck
- Applications should be submitted a least five months in advance prior to your project. This makes it easy to deal with any issues that may arise.
- Applicants must be in good standing before the Historic Wrecks Authority will consider a new application or renewal. All obligations under previous licenses issued need to have been met.
- Make a separate application for each wreck, site or survey
