ProcedureEdit

How to Import:

  1. First contact the Plant Protection Laboratory (PPL) to make sure that the content you want to import is qualified for entry requirements in Bermuda.
  2. With confirmation form the PPL, processed and order the material. Mare sure that your supplier provides you with all the invoices.
  3. Upon arrival of the import, apply for the release form from the PPL by obtaining and completing the release form application provided in “Documents to use” section below.
  4. Submit the application for Release to the Plant Protection Laboratory with the invoice for the purchased imports no later than 11 a.m. on the day the shipment is due to arrive by fax or in-person using the address provided in “office locations and contacts ” section below. Normally applications are processed within 30 minutes of receipt.
  5. Present your approved release form to H.M. Customs and obtain the import.
  6. Transport the import directly to the Plant Protection Laboratory for inspection. Note that boxes cannot be opened, or the laboratory will not inspect the materials.
  7. Pay for the inspection fees and have the materials inspected.
  8. If pests and/or diseases are detected, the flowers will be subject to treatment or confiscation and destroyed if necessary, depending on the pest or disease intercepted. Otherwise, the shipment will be released to you immediately.

  • To avoid inconveniency and your shipment being denied entry to Bermuda, it is better to confirm with the PPL first about the materials you wish to import and the condition they should be in when they arrive in Bermuda
  • Keep in mind that flowers are perishable good and should be stored properly and processed in due time to preserve them
