How to apply:
- Visit the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration office near you and obtain the application form.
- Submit the completed form and the supporting document (listed below) to the attending official for verification and processing.
- Pay the application fees.
- Your biometric data (fingerprint, photo) will then be taken by an official at the office and you will be notified on when you should re-visit the office to collect the passport.
- You will then be issued with a receipt/ acknowledgement slip which you should carry with you when collecting the passport.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Original and copy of Birth certificate
- Original and Photocopy of the valid national identity card
- Proof of profession, if there is a change of profession (The payment slip, The professional card, The diploma certificate, The work certificate, The work certificate, The school certificate, The student card)
- Certificate of residence (less than three months old) if there is a change of address
- Two (02) colour passport photos on a white background
- written parent consent (minors under 18)
- Certificate of residence (less than 1 month old) if there is a change of address (where applicable)
- Beninese nationality certificate (where applicable)
- Extract of the marriage certificate (applicant that are naturalization by marriage)
- Copy of the decree granting Beninese nationality
- Any other document required by the authority.

- The ECOWAS travel diary is a travel document issued in Benin to people with Beninese nationality. It serves as a passport and is used for travel to the 14 member states of ECOWAS. These are Senegal, Nigeria, Niger, Cote de Ivoire, Benin, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Togo.
- It was created to facilitate the intra-regional travel of member states citizens for periods of a maximum 90 days.
- The passport can be used within the sub-region and is also recognized for international travel
