Procedure

How to apply:

1. Eligible applicant (in Benin) should Visit the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration, while those abroad should visit the Benin embassy or consulate and express your interest.
2. Obtain the application form and fill it accurately.
3. Submit the complete form with the supporting documents (listed below) to the attending official.
4. If the Director is satisfied that all the documents are in order, you will be notified of the outcome within 2 working days.

• Two passport size photos.
• International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow fever)
• Photocopy of round-trip ticket or itinerary
• A valid Diplomatic passport (a minimum of 6 months validity is required)
• Diplomatic Note (Note Verbal) from the country of origin/ organization/ ministry of foreign affairs confirming that holder is travelling on official duty.
• Any other document that may be requested by the authority

Eligibility

• Persons holding Diplomatic, Official and Service passport coming into the country on official duties, or transiting through Benin to a third country for official business or duties are eligible to make the application for the diplomatic/courtesy visa.
• Government officials and dignitaries on official duties but holding ordinary passports are eligible to make the application for the diplomatic/courtesy visa.

• A diplomatic visa to Benin is valid for 3 months
