  1. Call Doc-Stop to cancel your passport and protect yourself against any fraudulent use of your identity: 0800 2123 2123.
  2. Notify the police station where the loss or theft took place or your local municipality immediately.

If you are on holiday abroadEdit

  1. Call Doc-Stop to cancel your passport and protect yourself against any fraudulent use of your identity: +32 2 518 2123.
  2. Notify the local police about the loss or theft immediately. Ask for a statement confirming the loss or theft.
  3. If you need a passport to return to Belgium, contact the Belgian embassy or consulate in the country you are visiting. If there is none, contact the embassy or consulate of another EU country.
  4. If you have been unable to notify the local police about the loss or theft while you were abroad, do so with your police station as soon as you return to Belgium.

If you live abroadEdit

  2. Notify your local police station abut the loss or theft immediately. Ask for a statement confirming the loss or theft.
  3. Notify your embassy or consulate about the loss or theft and send them the police statement.

Processing TimeEdit

  • Passports are issued within five working days once the passport application has been collected.
  • The time required to issue a passport depends on the number of collections, of which there are a minimum of two per week. Your municipality can provide more precise details on the frequency of collections.
  • A new emergency procedure has also been introduced: for an additional fee, passports may be issued by the municipality or province on the day after collection of the application by the private firm, provided that the application is faxed by the municipality or province to the production center by 3 p.m.
