ProcedureEdit

  1. The applicant should get a Visa application form from the Belgian Consulate in their country of origin and fill it out.
  2. The applicant then proceeds to pay the Visa application fee.
  3. The applicant then returns the application form together with the required documents and evidence of payment of Visa application fee.
  4. The applicant is sometimes invited for an interview.
  5. Upon approval of the Visa request the applicant is then informed on when to pick their Visa

  1. Identity card or passport
  2. Three passport photos
  3. Confirmation of good conduct or lack of a criminal record covering the previous five years from the applicants national police force
  4. Proof of means of support, usually in the form of an employment contract or letter from your employer (attestation patronale/verklaring van de werkgever)
  5. Belgian residence address
  6. Medical certificate from an approved doctor
  7. Copy of birth certificate
  8. Copy of marriage certificate
  9. Employment contract (applicable for Romanian and Bulgarian nationals in some communes)

InstructionsEdit

  • All non-Swiss/EEA nationals staying for longer than 90 days must apply for a longer stay visa (type D) with the Belgian consular authority for their country before coming to Belgium.
  • The residence Visa should be applied for from a Belgium embassy or consulate at least three weeks prior to you intended departure date.
  • if the applicant seeks to engage in a professional activity on a salaried basis (employee status), the required residency visa can only be issued upon the presentation of a work permit and supporting documents.
  • Residence Visas cannot be obtained or changed once youre in Belgium.

A Belgium temporary residency visa is given to a citizen of any country other than a Member State of the European Union who intends to reside in Belgium for a period longer than 90 days, or for a succession of periods totaling more than 90 days per six months.
