Belgium - Apply for a Resident Permit Visa
ProcedureEdit
- The applicant should get a Visa application form from the Belgian Consulate in their country of origin and fill it out.
- The applicant then proceeds to pay the Visa application fee.
- The applicant then returns the application form together with the required documents and evidence of payment of Visa application fee.
- The applicant is sometimes invited for an interview.
- Upon approval of the Visa request the applicant is then informed on when to pick their Visa
Required DocumentsEdit
- Identity card or passport
- Three passport photos
- Confirmation of good conduct or lack of a criminal record covering the previous five years from the applicants national police force
- Proof of means of support, usually in the form of an employment contract or letter from your employer (attestation patronale/verklaring van de werkgever)
- Belgian residence address
- Medical certificate from an approved doctor
- Copy of birth certificate
- Copy of marriage certificate
- Employment contract (applicable for Romanian and Bulgarian nationals in some communes)

InstructionsEdit
- All non-Swiss/EEA nationals staying for longer than 90 days must apply for a longer stay visa (type D) with the Belgian consular authority for their country before coming to Belgium.
- The residence Visa should be applied for from a Belgium embassy or consulate at least three weeks prior to you intended departure date.
- if the applicant seeks to engage in a professional activity on a salaried basis (employee status), the required residency visa can only be issued upon the presentation of a work permit and supporting documents.
- Residence Visas cannot be obtained or changed once youre in Belgium.
