Apply In Person:

  1. To Apply for Replacement of Motor Vehicle Engine, the applicant has to approach Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer or it can be downloaded from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. If the application is verified and found to be correct, the Assistant Director (Engineering) will give instructions to the motor vehicle inspector to inspect the motor vehicle. After receiving a satisfactory inspection report, the authorities will change the engine of the vehicle.
  11. Upon approval, he issues an acknowledgment of receipt, which will act as a temporary registration certificate.
  12. The acknowledgment letter will mention the probable date of issue of new registration certificate (bluebook)/digital registration certificate (DRC). After that, when the digital registration certificate preparation process is completed, it will be notified to the customer's mobile phone for collection.
  13. This entire process can be completed within 10 -20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • If for any reason the engine of a motor vehicle needs to be changed, it can be replaced with an engine of the same specification. In this case, the owner of the motor vehicle shall apply to the concerned BRTA office within fourteen days of the replacement of the engine for the correction of the information regarding the engine replacement.
