  3. A cause for the sale should be included in the letter, such as relocation, a change in marital status, or the possibility of losing the property through foreclosure.
  4. The owner may offer a buyer and a selling price to the ministry. If the home owner does not have a buyer lined up, the Ministry of the Environment and Housing can help.
  5. A Housing Officer interviews the prospective buyer to ensure that the property would be occupied by the owner. The selling of a property for commercial purposes will be prohibited by the Minister.
  6. The owner is advised in writing that he or she may proceed to sell to the identified party at the approved selling price once approval has been given.

Foreclosure:

  1. In the event of a mortgage foreclosure due to non-payment, the lending institution must seek permission from the Minister to enforce the provisions of the mortgage agreement.
  2. A possible buyer and a proposed selling price must be provided to the Minister by the bank.
  3. A Housing Officer interviews the prospective buyer to ensure that the home would be occupied by the owner. The Minister will not allow a property to be sold for commercial purposes.
