Introduction

This procedure provides you information about how to obtain license or permit as a Security Agent or Guard License or Permit in Bahamas.

  • Must be 18 years and older
  • Applicant Must be a Bahamian Citizen

Procedure

  1. The application for obtaining a Security Agent or Guard License can be obtained by applying to the Ministry of National Security.
  2. The application can be made through mail or by approaching one of their offices.
  3. Please make sure you have the documents that are listed under the Required Documents section of this page.
  4. A temporary licence may be issued to a person for a period stated in the licence, but not more than three months, while awaiting the decision to grant the licence.
  5. The applicant will be contacted by telephone or e-mail to collect the temporary licence within ten business days of receipt of application.
  6. The applicant may be enquired by the Police regarding character and finances before the Licence is granted.

  • Completed application form
  • Current Original Police Certificate
  • Bahamian Passport
  • Two Passport Size Photos

Fees

Temporary Licence Fee - BS$10 (every three months)
Annual Licence Fee - BS$10

  • All payment by cheque must be certified and made payable to the Public Treasury or The Ministry of National Security.
  • Other forms of acceptable payment are Cash or Money Order.
  • Cash payment should be made to the Public Treasury, and receipt submitted to the Ministry of National Security.
  • Fees should be paid with Application Form along with relevant documents.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
e.g. Birth Certificate Valid Forever
