Bahamas - Apply for Purchase a Commercial Governmet Lot
ProcedureEdit
Apply In-Person
- The Applicant has to submit an application form to the Department of Housing.
- Visit the following Details Contact Link.
- Family Island residents may collect an application form from the Local Administrator’s Office. Grand Bahama and Abaco residents may collect applications from the Department of Housing Office on those islands.
- The Applicant can download the Form from the following Form Link.
- The Applicant must also give a land use prospectus, a development timeframe, a proposed investment, and the community's impact.
- Applicants in New Providence, Grand Bahama, and Abaco must complete the Application for Land form in person and submit them to the relevant office, along with all supporting documents.
- All Other Family Island applicants must submit their application through the Family Island Administrator Officer who will forward the application to New Providence to be processed.
- The application will be reviewed by the Ministry of Housing, and the applicant will receive an acknowledgement letter.
- Land in The Bahamas is frequently overcrowded due to the great demand for housing. This indicates that there are more applications than spaces available. In this scenario, the applicant will receive a letter to that effect.
- If the application satisfies the criteria and a lot becomes available, the Department of Housing will contact the applicant by phone to let them know. The applicant will also receive a letter of offer.
- The location, cost of the property, deposit required, and payment date are all listed in the letter of offer.
- The Department of Housing will issue a rescission letter and give the property to another applicant on the list if the applicant does not pay by the statutory time or requests an extension.
