Apply In-Person

  1. The Applicant has to submit an application to the Nursing Council, The Bahamas. Contact Link
  2. The Applicant can download the Form from the following Form Link.
  3. Complete the application form with all details.
  4. After filling in all the details, submit the Application Form along with the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section to the Nursing Council along with the corresponding Fee.
  5. On receipt of the application, the Council will publish a notice in at least 2 newspapers that are circulated in The Bahamas and twice in the Gazette.
  6. The applicant will be called for a public hearing and the Council decides to approve or reject the application within 30 days.

Persons seeking to establish a nursing agency, or an agency where the services of nurses, midwives and clinical nurses are sought, can apply for this license.

FeesEdit

The fee for a Nurse Agency licence is BS$300.00

ValidityEdit

The License is valid for one year.

InstructionsEdit

The decision is reserved by the Council to refuse application or revoke the issued license on the following grounds:

  • If the applicant or holder of the license is not a fit to hold such a license.
  • If the nursing service proposed in the application does not require a license.
  • If there are no adequate equipment, organisation, and staffing arrangements in the agency.
  • The agency has been or is being improperly conducted.
  • If the premises is not suitable for the location.
  • If there are any Offences made in connection with the agency the Act.
  • If the agency fails to comply with the requirement of a law regulating to carry on that agency.
  • If the agency fails to comply with the uniform code, code of ethics or standard of nursing care specified by the Nursing Council.
