Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The Applicant has to submit an application in Form 5 to the Department of Marine Resources.
2. Please see the "Office Locations & Contacts" section below for contact information.
3. The Applicant can download the Form through the below Form Link.
4. Complete the application form with all details.
5. After filling all the details submit the Application Form along with the required documents as mentioned in the “Required documents”section to the Department of Marine Resources along with the corresponding fee.
6. On completion of the above process the applicant will get the permit.

The processing Fee for Marine Mammal Research Permit is BS$50.00.

The permit is valid for one year.

• Type and purpose of proposed marine mammal/marine mammal product research
• Dates of proposed research project
• Date, port and method of arrival in The Bahamas
• Precise location where proposed research is to be undertaken.
• Proposed cruise plan indicating ports of entry and exits with routes to be followed
• Specimens/samples proposed to collect
• If land based stations are required, please provide full details of location, equipment to be installed and number of persons who will staff the station.
• The following particulars are required of each member of the staff.

  • Position held with project
• Names and designations of scientists who will act as advisors to the project
