Apply In-Person

  1. The Applicant has to submit an application form to the Ministry of Works & Urban Development or local administrator.  Freeport applications are submitted to the Grand Bahama Port Authority Limited.
  2. Visit the following Details Contact Link.
  3. The Applicant can download the Form from the following Form Link.
  4. Complete the application form with all details.
  5. After filling in all the details submit the Application Form along with the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section to the Ministry of Works & Urban Development.
  6. The application will be processed by the Ministry of Works and Urban Development.
  7. A license issuing fee is assessed once approval has been obtained.
  8. After that, the License is ready to be issued.
  9. Applicants are notified by phone that their license has been accepted and that they can collect after paying the price.
  10. The Applicant must then pay the final fee and pick up the licence from the Ministry of Works & Urban Development's Control Division. At the local government office, Family Island applicants pick up their granted permit and make their final payment.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Evidence that at least two persons in the undertaking are holders of Certificates of Competency, one of whom has been actively engaged in the LPG industry for at least three years.
  • Relevant drawings shall be submitted to detail where work shall be carried out on property, in what buildings such work will be conducted and the distances to the neighbouring boundary lines.
  • The applicant shall also provide a written statement from:
    • An insurance firm carrying on business in The Bahamas, to the effect that the applicant be granted a licence, insurance coverage by the firm in accordance with Regulation 18 would thereupon become effective in relation to the applicant and his employees; or
    • A financial institution carrying on business in The Bahamas to the effect that upon the grant to the applicant of a licence a bond would become effective in accordance with Regulation 18 in respect of the due discharge of any of the obligations or liabilities of the applicant arising by virtue of his being a licensee.
    • The proposed business of the applicant is equipped to produce rebuilt containers that meet the requirements set forth in the basic standards; and
    • The persons engaged in the process of rebuilding possess the required skills and knowledge.
