Bahamas - Apply for Cat Permit or License
ProcedureEdit
- To apply for Cat Permit in person, the applicant has to visit any nearest office of the Department of Agriculture in his/her state of residence.The address and contact details can be found in the “Office Location & Contacts” section. Or you may follow this link to find the address: Link
- Visit the office and get an application form for Cat Permit from the relevant officer. Or you can download it here:
- Complete and submit the Application to Import Domestic Animals.
- Pay the relevant fee for the permit.
- The applicant will be given a Veterinarian Form (AGR/VS/1A Form) which must be completed by a registered veterinarian 24 hours prior to travel.
- Note: Official inspection may be required in the Bahamas by government authorised veterinarians and fees may be applied as verified by authorised veterinarians
- The applicant is issued with permit within 2 days.
- Applicant must submit the Veterinarian Form from the country of origin and the Cat Permit to an Agricultural Officer and Customs Officer at the port of entry or departure.

- Health records/ sanitary certificates for the animal(s)
- Colour photograph of the animal(s)
- Any other supporting documentation as authorised officers require
- A valid Business Licence - for a Commercial Trader

This service is intended to allow persons to import and export cats.
Information which might helpEdit
- For the U.S. and Canada, the following are the main provisions of the import permit as it applies to dogs and cats:
- The animal must be six months of age, or older.
- The animal must be accompanied by a valid certificate which substantiates that it has been vaccinated against rabies within not less than 1 month and not more than 10 months prior to importation for the 1 year vaccine. For the 3 year vaccine, it must be within no less than 1 month and no more than 34 months prior to importation into The Bahamas.
- The animal must be accompanied by a Veterinary Health Certificate presented within 48 hours of arrival in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to a licensed veterinarian for an examination.
