Procedure

1. To cancel a dog licence, you must go to the responsible authority in your area:
   1. The Municipal Office (Gemeindeamt)
   2. In statutory cities: the Magistrate (Magistrat)
   3. An in Vienna: the city cashier's office (Stadtkasse)

Eligibility

Instructions

In principle, all dog owners are required to pay a tax. In some municipalities, after payment of the relevant tax the dog owner receives a dog tag from the responsible authority.

Cancellation of a dog licence (death, move, passing on) must be presented to the relevant authority [zustndige Behrde fr Hundeabgaben]. As long as this is not done, the tax liability still exists.
