Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Veteran Orange Card, the applicant has to make the application online via link
  2. If the applicant is the user click the “Create account”.
  3. Select the option of Continue with Email or Continue with Digital Identity.
    Note: The steps given below are available for the “Continue with Email” option. It’s not the same for the “Continue with Digital Identity” option.
  4. Read the terms and conditions and click the “Next” button.
  5. Enter the email ID and click the “Next” button.
  6. The applicant will get the code from the given email and enter the code and then click the “Next” button.
  7. Enter the mobile number and click the “Next” button.
  8. Now create the password and click the “Next” button.
  9. In the final step, the applicant will be asked a question, complete the answer and click the “Submit” button.
  10. The applicant has to now go back to the sign-in page.
  11. Enter the username and password and click the “Sign-in” button.
  12. The applicant has to select the “View and Link” option.
  13. The applicant has to click the “Link” button which is mentioned near the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  14. Now, the applicant has to enter the user code and password and click the “Submit” button to activate the DVA account.
  15. Followed by selecting the “Veteran Orange Card” option from the list.
  16. The applicant has to enter all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  17. Also, upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  18. Once completed with all the information click the “Submit” button.
  19. There is no fee for Veteran Gold Card.
  20. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  21. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  22. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  23. If the application is successful, the applicant will receive the Veteran Card in the mail.
  24. The card will have the name, photo, and eligibility category printed on it.
  25. The applicant can use the Veteran Card to access a range of benefits and services, such as concessional travel, health care, and discounts from participating businesses.
  26. This entire process can be completed within 10 – 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


Apply by Mail:

  1. To Apply for Veteran Orange Card, The applicant has to approach the Department of Veterans Affairs link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office mailing address.
  7. The mailing address is mentioned on the application form's first page.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.

To be eligible

  • be a Commonwealth veteran, an Allied veteran, or an Allied mariner
  • be 70 years of age or older
  • have rendered qualifying service during WW1 or WW2
  • have been an Australian resident for at least 10 years

However, there is an Orange Card that is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) to current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition that is related to their service.
