  1. To Apply to Claim Disability Support Pension, the applicant has to make the application online via Service Australia on the official website given below link
  2. The applicant has to click the “Sign in to my.gov” option.
  3. If the applicant is a new user, click the “Create account”.
  4. Read the terms of use and click the “Next” button.
  5. Enter the email address and click the “Next” button.
  6. Enter the code that is sent to the email ID and click the “Next” button.
  7. Enter the mobile number and click the “Next” button.
  8. The applicant needs to create a password and click the “Next” button.
  9. The applicants have to click the “Sign-in” enter the user ID and password and then click the “Sign-in” button.
  10. Select the service followed by selecting the Medicare claims from the list.
  11. The applicant has to enter all the details in the form.
  12. upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  13. There is no fee for claiming a Disability Support Pension.
  14. After completing, the applicant has to click the “Submit” button.
  15. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  16. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  17. Once the process is completed, the applicant will receive a written notification of the decision.
  18. This entire process can be completed within 28 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to claim a Disability Support Pension (DSP) in Australia, you must meet both non-medical and medical rules.



Non-medical rules

  • The applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • The applicant must be aged 16 or over.
  • The applicant must be residing in Australia.
  • The applicant must have limited income and assets.


Medical rules

  • The applicant must have a physical, intellectual, or psychiatric impairment that is likely to persist for at least two years.
  • The impairment must be diagnosed, reasonably treated, and stabilized.
  • The impairment must result in an impairment rating of 20 points or more under the Impairment Tables.
  • The impairment must stop you from working at least 15 hours a week in full-time employment.
