Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Swimming Coach License, the applicant has to approach the Local authorities or the respective institute.
  2. Consider becoming accredited through Swimming Australia's coaching accreditation program.
  3. This program offers different levels of accreditation based on your coaching experience and qualifications.
  4. Often, coaches working with swimmers are required to have current CPR and first aid certifications to ensure the safety of the athletes.
  5. Familiarize yourself with child protection policies and requirements, as you'll likely be working with minors. Some positions might require you to undergo background checks or provide a Working with Children Check.
  6. Gain practical experience by assisting experienced coaches or working with swim clubs and teams. Building a strong coaching portfolio can be essential for securing coaching positions.
  7. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  8. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  9. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  10. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  11. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  12. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  13. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  14. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  15. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  16. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instruction given by the officer.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to apply for a swimming coach license in Australia, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Hold a current CPR and First Aid accreditation.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete the Swimming Australia Safe Sport Module and the ASADA Level 1 module.
  • Complete the Swimming Australia Development Coaching course.

  • The Swimming Australia Swimming Coach accreditation is valid for three years. To renew your accreditation, you must complete the Swimming Australia Continuing Professional Development program.
