Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Mental Health License, the applicant has to approach the ACT Health Directorate link
  2. Determine which mental health profession you want to pursue. Some common mental health professions in Australia include clinical psychology, counselling psychology, psychiatry, social work, and mental health nursing.
  3. Depending on the profession, you'll need to complete the required education and training.
  4. This often involves obtaining a relevant degree (e.g., psychology, social work, nursing), completing supervised clinical experience, and participating in professional development.
  5. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  6. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  7. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  9. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  10. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  13. Once your application is approved, you'll receive your license or registration, allowing you to legally practice in your chosen mental health profession.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 15 – 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to apply for a Home Health License in Australia, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a registered health practitioner with a relevant qualification in aged care, nursing, or allied health.
  • Be a member of a relevant professional association.
  • Have completed a supervised clinical placement in home health care.
  • Have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
