  • Applicant must start by submitting an expression of interest for a skilled visa by use of Skill Select.
    • Skill select is an online service that enables skilled workers and business people who are interested in settling in Australia recorded their details to be considered for skilled visa. The more on Skill Select is available at the immigration department.

    • The process of recording information is what is referred to as Expression of Interest.
  • The intending migrants are then found and nominated for the skilled vise by either Australian employer, governments of states or territories or by the government of Australia. They are then invited to submit application for the visa

  1. To apply online, an applicant must have an ImmiAccount. This is an account with the Government of Australia Department of Immigration and Citizenship. To create an account, go to the Government of Australia Department of Immigration and Border Protection website http://www.immi.gov.au and signup.
    1. You will be required to provide a username and password for your account. The username and password must be kept safely and recalled because they shall be used each time you want to open you account.
  2. To begin application, go to the immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au/Services/Pages/professionals-other-skilled-workers-online-applications.aspx and click on the link for the type of professionals and other skilled workers visa you would like to apply for to start online application.
    1. This will direct you to a login page, where you shall be required to enter username and password. *When the username and password are entered, the applicants ImmiAccount will open and the system shall be directed through the application process / steps.
  3. Fill in all required documents and add as much information as you can before submitting application. When filling the online application, format styles should not be copied and pasted in application fields for example the numbering format.
  4. After filling all required sections, submit application.
  5. When application is submitted, a Transaction Reference Number (TRN) is given. This is a unique number assigned to each submitted application.
  6. The applicant can proceed with tracking his / her application. This is case he / she will use the given Transaction Reference Number (TRN) in identification and tracking application to find status.

  1. Skilled Region Visa also referred to as subclass 887 visa is issued to applicant who have previously stayed and worked in specified regions in Australia and hold an eligible visa.

  3. Skilled Recognized Graduate visa also referred to as subclass 476 visa: This is issued to recent graduates from the engineering section of recognized institutions to gain skilled work experience for up to 18 months
