- Applicant must start by submitting an expression of interest for a skilled visa by use of Skill Select.
- Skill select is an online service that enables skilled workers and business people who are interested in settling in Australia recorded their details to be considered for skilled visa. The more on Skill Select is available at the immigration department.

- To apply online, an applicant must have an ImmiAccount. This is an account with the Government of Australia Department of Immigration and Citizenship. To create an account, go to the Government of Australia Department of Immigration and Border Protection website http://www.immi.gov.au and signup.
- You will be required to provide a username and password for your account. The username and password must be kept safely and recalled because they shall be used each time you want to open you account.
- To begin application, go to the immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au/Services/Pages/professionals-other-skilled-workers-online-applications.aspx and click on the link for the type of professionals and other skilled workers visa you would like to apply for to start online application.
- This will direct you to a login page, where you shall be required to enter username and password. *When the username and password are entered, the applicants ImmiAccount will open and the system shall be directed through the application process / steps.
- Fill in all required documents and add as much information as you can before submitting application. When filling the online application, format styles should not be copied and pasted in application fields for example the numbering format.
- After filling all required sections, submit application.
- When application is submitted, a Transaction Reference Number (TRN) is given. This is a unique number assigned to each submitted application.
- The applicant can proceed with tracking his / her application. This is case he / she will use the given Transaction Reference Number (TRN) in identification and tracking application to find status.
