ProcedureEdit

  1. PDS Smart cards are the digital version of ration booklets designed like an ATM card.
  2. Applicant shall apply in order to get smart cards in place of existing ration cards.



Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicant has to approach concerned Ration shop to apply for Transfer Ration Card to Smart Ration card.
  2. Usually, respective ration shop with Electronic Point of Sale (E-POS) will register consumer request/application for issuance of smart card.
  3. Applicant may approach their respective ration office Or District Supply Office (in DC office) as applicable to check for applying procedure and any updated requirements for this process.
  4. Obtain the application form from the concerned authority.
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. Complete the application with required details and submit it along with Required Document.
  7. Authority will check the documents and take the biometric finger authentication along with aadhar card.
  8. After successful processing, applicant will be provided with transaction slip for the submitted application (same will be provided in the mobile number registered).
  9. Applicant receives updates on the process.
  10. Upon successful completion of the process, the issuance of the ration card will take place in the form of a smart card as announced and in accordance with applicable terms.

  • Validity remains same
  • Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The ration items will be effectively delivered to the valid ration card holders who are below poverty line.
  • The main advantage here is that the customers get their rightful entitlement in terms of quantity. What's meant for them cannot be diverted to the open market because of maintaining the database correctly and generating bills properly.
  • The government services are reached to poor people effectively and also the corruption in PDS can be reduced or avoided to a great extent.
