Apply In-Person:

  1. Any eligible couple intended to do a court marriage shall approach their respective office of the district marriage officer. It is mandatory, that either the bride or the groom should have resided in the jurisdiction for more than 30 days before the date of applying for the notice of intended marriage.
  2. Contact link please use the contact information from the given page to locate the respective office.
  3. The applicants shall visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority. The authority will provide the updated details for applying. Please collect the application form for the notice of intended marriage, or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.

  5. Please complete the application form with the mandatory details for the notice of intended marriage. Both the applicants and three witnesses should sign the application for the notice of intended marriage. The applicants shall attach the documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority as advised in triplicate.
  6. After receiving the application, the authorities will examine the application and other documents furnished. If all are in place, the application will be accepted and an acknowledgement receipt will be provided. Please keep it safe for future reference.
  7. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification from the department.
  8. The submitted application will be processed further.
  9. The marriage officer shall keep all notices recorded in the marriage notice book.
  10. The marriage notice book shall be assessed for inspection at all reasonable times, by any person desirous of inspecting the book. The notice will be published by affixing a copy thereof to a conspicuous place in the office to invite any objections within the next 30 days.
  11. On completion of 30 days without any objection, the applicant will get intimation to process their marriage through an “SMS” or as per norms.
  12. The applicants shall visit the concerned office as per notification and follow their guidelines. The marriage will be conducted at the preferred date (Subjected to availability).
  13. Once the application is accepted, the entire process can be completed within 30 days.
  14. The applicant has to pay the fee as per the authority’s request.


NOTE:
  • In case, either of the applicant is not permanently residing within the limits of the district of the marriage officer to whom the notice has been submitted, the marriage officer will forward or notify the matter to the marriage officer of the respective district within whose limits such party is permanently residing for appropriate action.

  • Address proof of the applicants and 3 witnesses (PAN Card /Driving Licence / Bank Passbook / Electricity Bill / Telephone Bill)
  • Identity proof of the applicant and 3 witnesses (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence)


Any one of the documents required for the proof of age

  • Secondary School Certificate/Class 10 Certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate of school-leaving
  • Certificate from Civil Surgeon
  • Valid Passport
  • Passport size photograph of the bride and groom
  • Fees paid receipt for district court application form as appropriate
  • Affirmation by the parties in the prescribed format
  • If the parties were previously married and the spouse is demised, death certificate of spouse as per requirement
  • If the parties were previously married and divorced, divorce decree as per requirement
  • Aadhaar card of the applicants and 3 witnesses

  • Apart from the above documents, the authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

EligibilityEdit

  • At the time of application, neither bride nor groom should have lived as husband/wife at the time of marriage.
  • Eligibility age to get married is 21 for male and 18 for female.
  • Both the applicant’s must be of sound mind.
  • Both the applicant’s should be free of any mental illness or insanity.
  • The applicant’s should not be in a prohibited relationship to any extent.
  • If previously married, the spouse by that marriage should not be alive.



NOTE: One cannot apply for this procedure if any one of the applicants have not attained the age limit as per norms. This will be treated as offence.


FeesEdit

  • The applicant has to pay the fee as per the authority’s request.


ValidityEdit

  • There is no time bound validity. The notice provides validity for the court marriage process upon, no objections were claimed during the 30-day notice period.

  • If any of the statement or declaration provided is false, the respective applicant is liable to imprisonment and also to fine.
  • The three Indian witnesses are mandatory to sign on the application in the presence of the marriage officer.
  • Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get this certificate.
  • Incomplete application will be rejected.
  • Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
