Step – 1 Course
- Before Applying for an Immunologist License, start by obtaining a strong educational foundation in biology, microbiology, immunology, or a related field. This often begins with a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Pursue advanced degrees (e.g., master's or Ph.D.) in immunology, microbiology, or a closely related field. Graduate studies provide specialized training and research experience in immunology.
- Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
- Gain practical research experience in immunology during the graduate studies. Work on research projects, publish scientific papers, and contribute to the field's knowledge.
- Pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) to obtain the medical license.
- Consider becoming board-certified in immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). To do this, the applicant must pass their certification exam.
Step – 2 License
- After completing the exam successfully, the applicant has to get a license from the respective colleges.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned branch officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- If the applicant is selected for interviews, they have to be prepared to discuss their qualifications, experiences, and understanding of epidemiological principles and methods.
- Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- The applicant will get the Immunologist license through the mail.
- This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
