Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for an Energy Auditor License, the applicant has to approach the United States Department of Energy link
  2. The applicant has to complete the training program successfully.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit the application form and the documents to the authorized officer.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
  11. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
  12. The applicant needs to pass a licensing examination to demonstrate their knowledge and competency. The exam may consist of both written and practical components. Check the requirements of the state to determine the specifics of the licensing exam and prepare accordingly.
  13. It also, requires a background check as part of the licensing process. This may involve submitting fingerprints for a criminal history check.
  14. Follow the instructions provided by the licensing board to complete this step if required.
  15. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  16. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive the Energy Auditor license from the licensing board.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 3 – 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
