Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Federal Crab Vessel Permit or License, the applicant has to approach the NOAA Fisheries Service link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer or the applicant has to download the form from the following link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
- The Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
- Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
- The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- Concerned authorities will look into the application form and the submitted document.
- Once the process is completed, the applicant gets the notification through mail to get the license.
- The license will be issued to the applicant by visiting the office within 15 – 30 days.
NOTE
- The applicant can contact their nearby field offices to submit the application given in the “Office Location & Contacts” section of this page.
- This application cannot be processed or approved unless applicant has met all the requirements and conditions of the CR Program, including (as appropriate)

EligibilityEdit
- All vessels participating in the Bering Sea/Aleutian Island crab rationalization fisheries must have a valid Federal Crab Vessel Permit on board at all times.
- This Application is used to obtain and/or to amend the Permit.
- Only U.S. Citizens are authorized to receive or to hold a Federal Crab Vessel Permit.
FeesEdit
- The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority request.
- Payment of all outstanding fees must be submitted to NMFS on or before July 31.
ValidityEdit
- Permits are annual, issued for a crab fishing year (July 1 through June 30).

Need for the DocumentEdit
- A catcher vessel, catcher/processor, or a stationary floating processor) that is participating in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (BSAI) Crab Rationalization (CR) Program in any way must have on board a valid Federal Crab Vessel Permit (FCVP).

- Vessels that participate in any of the CR fisheries are required to have on board, and to use, a Vessel Monitoring System (VMS), while the CR fisheries are open, regardless of where the vessel is fishing or for what the vessel is fishing.
