Obtaining a Marriage LicenseEdit
- Both parties must be present when the application to obtain a marriage license is submitted.
- Present your valid government-issued photo identification.
- Pay the application fee.
- The marriage license will be issued on the same day you have submitted your request, and can be used immediately if you have made arrangements with an officiator of your choice to perform the ceremony.
A marriage license must be issued prior to the ceremony taking place, signed at completion of the ceremony, and returned by the officiator not more than 30 days after the ceremony has taken place in order for the license to be recorded.
Obtaining a copy
After the bottom portion of the license has been returned and recorded, a certified copy can be requested and mailed to you for an additional $27.50 payable at the time you apply for the license or any time afterwards.

Certified Copy of a Marriage License (Maricopa County)Edit
You may obtain a certified copy of a marriage license at the following offices:
- Customer Service Center, 601 W. Jackson, Phoenix
- Southeast office: 222 E. Javelina, Mesa
- Northeast office: 18380 N. 40th Street, Suite 120, Phoenix
- Northwest office, 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Surprise.
Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Payments made in-person include money order, debit card, credit card or cash.

Your request must include the following information:
- The full legal name of both parties prior to the marriage;
- The year the marriage took place;
- The marriage license number shown at the bottom of the marriage license certificate, if known.
For requests submitted by post, do not forget to include the following: a money order payable to the Clerk of the Court for $27.50, and a business-size, self-addressed stamped envelope (or a money order for $34.50 for postage and handling instead of a business-size, self-addressed stamped envelope). The money order must include the customer name, address, and phone # of the customer on the front.
It may take about 14 business days for your request to be processed.
Required DocumentsEdit
- A valid government-issued photo identification (Examples: driver's license, passport, etc.) Note: a Matricula Consular I.D. card is not an acceptable form of identification for any type of marriage license to be issued.
- For applicants under the age of 18: Consent form - Maricopa County
- For applicants aged between 16 and 17: a certified copy of your birth certificate and one of the following government issued picture I.D.'s is required: a) current driver's license; b) state or military I.D. card; c) current passport; d) or other government issued picture I.D.
- For those who are aged 15 or under, you must also have a court order. To obtain a court order you must contact Conciliation Court at (602) 506-3296.
Note: You do not need to present a copy of your divorce decree when you apply for a marriage license; blood tests are also not required.

Couples in Arizona may apply for a marriage license. It doesn't necessarily requires a person to be a resident of Arizona.

Marriage License : $76.00
You may pay in cash or money order, bank guarantee card or credit card. If you are purchasing a license at the Justice Courts, only money orders are accepted.
ValidityEdit
You have up to one (1) year from the date the marriage license was issued to get married, as the license expires one (1) year from the date of purchase.

InstructionsEdit
- Premarital counseling from a marriage counselor or clergy member is required for Covenant Marriage License.
- Young couples may also marry in Arizona, if they comply with the state regulations.
- It's best to apply for a marriage license one month in advance.
