Procedure

1. Obtain all necessary documents in applying for modification of name in birth certificate.
2. Submit your application along with all other requirements.
3. Once approved a personal certificate will be issued with endorsement.

Instructions

Applications for the modification of name on birth certificate are submitted to the Civil Registry - DNRN.

Required Information

1. Date of Birth.

Need for the Document

Articles 7 and 8 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states, "The child shall be registered immediately after birth and shall have the right from birth to a name, the right to acquire a nationality..." (Article 7) and "States Parties undertake to respect the right of the child to preserve his or her identity, including nationality, name and family relations..." (Article 8)

A Birth Certificate is a record that documents the birth of a child. In Angola the name stated on the birth certificate may be modified in cases where there are misspellings in the name.
