Apply In-person:

  1. To apply for a Family Identity Card, the applicant has to visit the nearest Tehsildar or office of the Directorate of Civil Supplies in respect of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Find contacts to the department in Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the link provided: Link
  2. Upon visiting the office, the applicant must submit an application to the concerned department. Find the application form here:Link
  3. Take a printout of the application form and fill it up with appropriate details under relevant sections with an authorized signature from the local Municipal Councillor or Gaon Panchayat.
  4. Make sure to attach all the necessary documents listed under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  5. Submit the application form to the concerned Tehsildar.
  6. On successful submission, the authority will verify the details.
  7. Once verified, the concerned officer will issue a card and notify the applicant regarding the same through a registered phone number.
  8. The Family Identity Card will be sent to the address mentioned in the form within 2-3 working days.
  9. The applicant also may collect the same from the Tehsildar office.

  3. Proof of Date of Birth (e.g Birth Certificate or X Pass Certificate)

  6. Aadhaar Card.

Need for the DocumentEdit

For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Family Identity Cards (Ration Cards) are being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card.

Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.

Types of ration card:

  • Antyodaya ration cards, issued to the poorest of the poor.
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards.
  • Above Poverty Line (APL) cards.
