American Samoa - Apply for a Commercial Driver License (CDL)

ProcedureEdit

Complete an application form.
To be granted a commercial driver's license, applicants must pass examinations on the traffic rules and traffic signs of American Samoa, and must pass a vision test with a minimum vision acuity level of 20/40 corrected.
Applicants are also required to pass a road test and pay the license fees.

EligibilityEdit

You may apply for a commercial driver's license if you are at least 21 years of age, in good physical condition, of good moral character, fully competent to operate the commercial vehicle under your charge, and hold a private drivers license.

Need for the DocumentEdit

A driving license is an official document which states that a person may operate a motorized vehicle, such as a motorcycle, car, truck or a bus, on a public roadway.

You may not operate any motor vehicle in American Samoa without a valid drivers license issued by the Commissioner of Public Safety in American Samoa.

Following is a procedure on how you can apply for a commercial driver's license.

Your Driver's License

The issued drivers license indicates the type or general class of vehicles the licensee may drive, which license shall bear thereon a distinguishing number assigned to the licensee, the full name, date of birth, residence address and a brief description and a photograph of the licensee, and either a facsimile of the signature of the licensee or a space upon which the licensee shall write his usual signature with pen and ink immediately upon receipt of the license, and such other information as is determined necessary by the Commissioner.

You must have a drivers license or learners permit in your immediate possession at all times whenever you are operating a motor vehicle and shall display the same upon demand of a police officer.

Note: Commissioner means the Commissioner of Public Safety in American Samoa.
