Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for Placement of a Water or Sewer Pipeline in person, the applicant has to visit the nearest District Transportation Office.
  2. The address and contact details of the offices can be found in the following document Contact link
  3. The applicant has to visit the respective office and obtain the application form for Placement of a Water or Sewer Pipeline or click here to download Application form
  4. While visiting the office, the applicants should carry the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to complete the application with required details in respective fields under each section.
  6. After that, the applicant should attach the required documents with the completed form and submit it to the relevant official with the required documents.
  7. Then, the applicant should pay the fees of 100 dollars for the licence through any of the available payment modes.
  8. Then, the submitted application and attached documents will be assessed and verified.
  9. Within 30 working days, upon completion of the assessment and verification, the applicant will be intimated through phone or email to collect the approval.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any owner of a company, who needs to construct a water or sewer pipelines across provincial highways, can apply.
  • An authorized representative can also apply.

  • The applicant should pay the fees of 100 dollars for the licence through any of the available payment modes.

InstructionsEdit

  • The application should clearly state the purpose of the application, the type of the facility, method of construction, and provide the legal land description, number of the highway involved, and particulars of the contact person responsible for the application.
  • In case of sewer lines it should also state whether the line is for sanitary sewage or storm drainage.
  • Incomplete applications without proper documentation will be returned without review.

  • Any work related to construction and/or modification of existing and planned water/sewer lines paralleling or crossing provincial highways under the jurisdiction of Alberta Transportation, must be performed only after obtaining a relevant approval from the Transportation Department.
