Procedure

Apply Online

1. To register for an Automotive salesperson license, the applicant will need to create an Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC) account. Use the following link to the login page Link
2. On the page click on the “Salesperson Application portal” icon, the applicant will be directed to the login page.
3. If the applicant has an account, log in using credentials.
4. If the applicant does not have an account, follow these steps to create an account:
   • On the log in page, click on the “New User” option.
   • The applicant will need to enter their email ID, confirm email ID.
   • Agree to the terms and conditions and click on “Submit”.
   • A temporary password will be sent to the applicant's email ID, go back to the login page, enter the email ID and temporary password.
   • Once logged in, the applicant will need to enter security questions, click on “Done”.
   • The applicant will need to create a password, once done, click on “Save”.
   • The applicant will be automatically logged in and will be able to see their log in page.
5. Once logged in, the applicant will need to click on the “Start New Application” icon.
6. Read the conditions and click on “Continue”.
7. The applicant will be directed to the application page, enter all the relevant details, and click on “Save and Continue”.
8. The applicant will have to answer questions to determine eligibility.
9. The applicant’s employer will have to complete the “Salesperson Authorization” section of the application form.
10. The applicant will need to upload copies of documents find a list of documents under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
11. Once all the question in each section has been answered, the applicant will need to make payment using a credit card. The applicant can find more information under the “Fees” section of this page.
12. once the payment has been made, the application will be submitted.
13. The applicant will also need to mandatorily write a salesperson registration exam, and they will need 80% or above to pass.
14. Once the applicant completes this course, they will receive their license either by mail or must collect it in person as will be intimated by the authorities.
15. The applicant shall be registered within 30 days from the completion of the course.

1. To apply for the course, the applicant will need to register through the AMVIC portal, here is the link to the portal Link.
2. Click on the “Course registration portal” option.
3. The applicant will be directed to the login page, log in using credentials.
4. Once logged in, the applicant can click on the registration icon and register for the course.
5. The applicant will need to make a non-refundable payment, find fee-related information under the “Fees” section of this page.
6. Submit the application to register for the course, the applicant can immediately access the course through the confirmation mail sent to them.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be 18 years of age or above.
• The applicant must mandatorily complete the salesperson registration course and pass with 80% or higher.
• The applicant must mandatorily go through a criminal record check.

Fees

• The applicant will need to pay a fee of 100$ for registration.
• The applicant will need to pay a fee of 160$ to enrol in the salesperson registration course.

Validity

• The automotive salesperson's license needs to be renewed every year.
• If the applicant does not renew the license for more than three years they will have to complete the salesperson course again.

• The applicant may enrol in a Salesperson registration course prior to finding gainful employment.
• The applicant has to mandatorily renew license every year, if they engage in business without renewing their license, they could face enforcement action.
• The applicant has to go through a background check and they must pay for it.
