Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for Advance Payments Program in person, the applicant has to visit any nearest Advance Payments Program administrator office.
  2. Contact link of the nearest administrator office can be found using office finder tool in the following Contact link
  3. Visit the link and find the nearest administrator by selecting the applicable province and product from the drop-down lists available.
  4. Find the details of the applicable office and contact the office to apply for the Advance Payments Program.
  5. The staff at the office may require the applicant to visit the office to complete the application process.
  6. Make sure that all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page, are available while visiting the office.
  7. The applicant has to follow the instructions of the official to complete the application process.
  8. The staff will provide the application form to be completed by the applicant. The applicant has to complete it with the required details.
  9. After completing, the required documents (if any) should be attached with the form and submitted to the staff.
  10. The staff will also tell the amount of fees that the applicant should pay for the process. The applicant has to make the payment through any of the available payment modes.
  11. Once the application process is over, the Administrator will assess the applicant’s eligibility and notify the applicant about the assessment results after completion.
  12. If the applicant is found eligible, they will be required to sign a repayment agreement and within two weeks, the administrator will either send the applicant a cheque for the eligible advance amount, or deposit the amount into their bank account.

  • In case of individuals, the applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • In case of a corporation, cooperative or partnership, its majority interest must have been held by Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • The applicant must be the age of majority in the province of operation.
  • The company must have produced or must be producing or they must own the agriculture product.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Advance Payments Program assists agricultural producers by providing easy access of funds with less interest in advance. The program also provides financial support to the beneficiaries until they start to sell their agricultural products.



Information which might helpEdit

  • The applicant must provide security for the agricultural product for which advance is required. For advances on agricultural products that are in production or are non-storable and for advances on animals or animal products, additional security is required.
  • With the help of the program, the applicant can get up to $1,000,000 per program year in total advances based on the value of their eligible agricultural products, with the Government of Canada paying the interest on the first $100,000 of their advance.
  • The full advance must be repaid within the timeline set out in the repayment agreement. The loan period can vary depending on the agricultural product, but is 18 months for most products (24 months for cattle and bison).
