Apply Online

  1. To obtain Online Police Clearance Certificate (Criminal History Record) in Alabama, the applicant has to make the application electronically via the following link
  2. Follow the steps under the “Obtaining Your Identity History Summary” section.
  3. The applicant needs to provide an e-mail address to initiate the application process. A secure link along with a personal identification number, will be sent to the specified address and will be used to complete the online application.


Step 1: Complete the Applicant Information Form

  1. After entering the E-mail address, the applicant must complete the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)


Step 2: Select Preferences

  1. The applicant must select their preferences regarding response and status notifications.


Step 3: Submit Fingerprints
OPTION -1

  1. If the applicant wishes to submit a request electronically directly to the FBI, they must visit a participating U.S. Post Office location to submit fingerprints electronically as part of their request.
  2. The applicant may go to any of the 181 participating U.S. Post Office locations nationwide upon completion of his/her request. Additional fees may apply.

Note:
  • The applicant can enter their zip code to find a nearby location to them.
  • If the applicant chooses to use a U.S. Post Office location, he/she must complete their application and payment electronically before visiting a U.S. Post Office location to submit fingerprints electronically as part of the request.


OPTION -2

  1. If the applicant wishes to submit the fingerprint form via mail, the applicant must download and complete the fingerprint form given in the following link
  2. The applicant must mail the completed fingerprint card along with a copy of his/her confirmation e-mail to:

  3. The FBI will process the applicant’s request upon receipt of their completed fingerprint card in the date order it was received.


Step 4: Submit Payment

  1. The fee to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate is $18 U.S. dollars.
  2. Payment by credit card will be accepted, as well as payment via PayPal and Amazon accounts. The applicant will be redirected to another secure site to complete the payment process.


Step 5: Review and Confirm Your Request

  1. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail provided on the request. The applicant must retain a copy of the confirmation for their records. The applicant will need it to check the status of their request and to access the results.


Step 6: Check Request Status and Receive Results<br? There are two options to receive results:

  1. An e-mail with a secure link and personal identification number or
  2. First-Class Mail via the U.S. Postal Service, if requested. The applicant will need their original confirmation e-mail to access his/her results.

  • For those who resided more than 6 months in the USA.
  • The applicant must be 16 years of age. For minors, apply as per the authority advice.
  • Applicants who require residential status, employment, or long-term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

  • All Police Clearance Certificates are valid for one year from the date of its issue and they must be valid on the day the visa is issued.
