Apply by Mail

  1. To Get an Affidavit of Support, the applicant has to approach the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Service link

  2. The applicant has to download the form from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit the documents and completed form to the USCIS mailing address.
  7. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page, or check the following link.
  8. The fee for an Affidavit of Support is free of cost.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. The authority will verify all the documents; the applicant gets mail or call from the office for biometric process.
  11. The applicant has to visit the office to complete all the process.
  12. Once all the verification process gets completed, the applicant will get the affidavit support paper through mail.
  13. The processing time for an Affidavit of Support takes up to 11 to 12 months.


NOTE:

  • At the time of any interview or other appearance at a USCIS office, the office require that the applicant has to provide the fingerprints, photograph, and/or signature to verify your identity and/or update background and security checks.

Sponsor for Affidavit of Support

  • If the applicant filed an immigrant visa petition for the relative, the applicant must be the sponsor. the applicant must also be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. the applicant must have a domicile in the United States or a territory or possession of the United States.
  • Usually, this requirement means the applicant must actually live in the United States, or a territory or possession, in order to be a sponsor. If the applicant lives abroad, you may still be eligible to be a sponsor if the applicant can show that your residence abroad is temporary, and that still have the domicile in the United States.
