Apply by Mail

  1. To Get Unpaid Foreign Claims, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Department of Justice Foreign Claims Settlement Commission link
  2. The applicant has to download the form from the following link
  3. If the applicant is claiming money for someone who has died also, the applicant has to complete this form link and link
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
  5. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit the completed form and the necessary documents to the office mail address.
  8. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
  9. There is no fee for this procedure.
  10. Once all the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through a mail.
  11. The FCSC will send the payment voucher.
  12. The applicant has to sign the voucher and send it back to the FCSC through mail.
  13. Once the officer gets the signed voucher from the applicant, the applicant will get the payment.

  14. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15 – 30 days.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any applicant, who is a U.S. national who has suffered a covered loss in a foreign country are eligible to make this application.
  • The losses are covered by the Unpaid foreign claims program:
    • A foreign government nationalizing the applicant’s property
    • Property damage or loss as a result of military operations
    • Injury to civilian or military personnel.

  • Give the name, mailing address and phone number of the lawyer (if any) representing the applicant in this claim.
  • Give the name, mailing address and phone number of a person they can contact, if they cannot locate the applicant.
  • Date of Birth
  • Summary of loss claimed
  • Individual personal property losses

  • The Unpaid Foreign Claims program may be able to pay for the applicant’s loss.
  • The Unpaid Foreign Claims program at the Department of the Treasury is only responsible for payments. They ensure that claimants receive the payment amount authorized in the public law governing each Foreign Claims Program.
