Need for the DocumentEdit

  • The acquisition, sale, ownership, and use of captive-bred raptors protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in depredation situations require a Federal Special Purpose Abatement permit.
  • Raptors that are utilised for control must be raised in captivity and have a U.S. issued by the Fish & Wildlife Service, numbered band.
  • The death or harm of any migratory bird or other animal is not authorised by an abatement permit; additional federal and/or state approval may be needed.
  • Only raptors that are allowed to be utilised in accordance with the abatement authorization's rules.
  • The applicant may only use their personal raptors in line with the restrictions of their abatement permission.
