Apply Online

  1. To Get Business Enterprise Research and Development (BERD) Survey, the applicant has to the U.S. Census Bureau Economic Division link
  2. To start this procedure, the applicant has to create an account in Census Bureau by using this following link
  3. If the applicant has already created a Census Account, click the “Sign in” button.
  4. If the applicant is new user to access the survey the applicant has to click the “Register” button.
  5. Enter all details to complete the registration process and click the “FINISH” button.
  6. After completing go back to the sign in page and enter the user ID, password and click the “Sign in” button.
  7. The applicant has to link the account to the survey by an authentication code which is sent from the Census Bureau.
  8. Once the applicant has this code, click on the “Add Authentication Code” button under “My Surveys.” Enter and submit your unique 12-digit code.
  9. After submitting the authentication code, a survey card will appear under “My Surveys.”
  10. In survey card, the applicant has to enter the necessary details.
    NOTE: For completing this survey by assistance, the applicant can send a SMS or call to the customer helpline number at 1-800-416-3262, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
  11. The Census Bureau will mail separate, unique authentication codes for each different survey. Each code can be entered and a separate survey card will appear under “My Surveys.”
  12. All the survey reports will check and follow-up by the U.S. Census Bureau Economic Division.
  13. The fee for this procedure is free of cost.
  14. The processing time for completing the survey report is within 3 hours.


NOTE:

  • Each unique authentication code can only be used one time.
  • Click “Report Now” (used to start reporting or access a printable PDF of questions/instructions)
  • Click “Options” (used to request time extensions, if available; check filing status; access survey FAQs, find contact information)
  • Click “i” (used to learn more about the survey)


To check the status

  1. Click “Options” on the applicant survey card.
  2. Select “Filing Status” option.
  3. Review the displayed table. Surveys with an entry in the “Date Received” column have been received by the Census Bureau.
    NOTE: Blanks in this column indicate the survey is not yet received.
  4. It takes 1 or 2 business days for the filing status to be updated after submitting surveys.
  5. Return to the “Report Now” button to access the electronic reporting instrument to complete and submit any missing surveys.
