Apply In Person

1. To Get Authorization for Property Release, the applicant has to approach the United States Department of Agriculture - Rural Development Rural Housing Service link
2. The applicant has to download the form from the following link

   NOTE: Download the application form in PDF format or adobe reader format.

3. The applicant needs to enter all the details in the application form.
4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit the application form and the documents to the nearest Rural Housing Service office.
7. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
8. Once the verification process gets done, the applicant gets notification through mail.
9. The applicant has to visit the office to get the property release.
10. The processing time for this procedure is within 30 days.

Proper Authorization

• Should be in writing
• Should be on plain paper or your letterhead (NOTE: do not use forms from other agencies, as they do not authorize the Department of State to release documents)
• Should authorize the Department of State to release documents concerning the individual to you
• Should be signed by the individuals who the documents are about
• Should contain either:
  • A notarization from a notary public - which has the signature of the individual who is the subject of the records, the signature and seal of the notary, and be dated within six months of the request, or
  • A statement from the individual who is the subject of the records saying: “I declare, certify, verify or state that, under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America, the foregoing is true and correct.” This statement should be signed by the individual who the records are about, and be dated within six months of the date of the request.
