Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for a Certificate of Free Sale, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Also, attach the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the necessary documents along with the completed form to the concerned office.
  7. The current fee is $35 per Certificate.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  10. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  11. The applicant will get the certificate through mail.
  12. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Certificate of Free Sale are documents that indicate to recipients of an export product that the particular product(s) is marketed in the United States and eligible for export, and that the particular manufacturer does not have unresolved regulatory enforcement actions. Some foreign countries require such a document for entry of foreign products.

  • Department of Agricultural will issue Certificates of Inspection and Free Sale for products manufactured/processed in state and regulated by DA through state statutes or through its cooperative agreements with federal agencies, such as the Food and Drug Administration or the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of USDA. This mainly includes human food processors and animal food (feed) processors in the state.
