  4. The Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
  5. Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
  6. Fee for this procedure is free of cost.
  7. Once completed, the applicant should submit the Form to U.S Social Security Administration department office.
  8. Concerned authorities will look into the application form and the document.
  9. upon successful completion the authority will issue the insurance benefits by visiting the office.
  10. The processing time of this procedure takes up to 1 to 2 weeks.

  1. To Apply for Parent Insurance Benefits (SSA), the applicant can also do by call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
  2. Give the information to the respective officer.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible for this benefit program, the applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be at least age 60.
  • Be the widow or widower of a fully insured worker.
  • Meet the marriage duration requirement.
  • Be unmarried, unless the marriage can be disregarded.
  • Not be entitled to an equal or higher Social Security retirement benefit based on the own work.
