Step 1: Pre-register with the System for Award Management (SAM).
- To Apply for Value Added Producer Grants (VAPG) the applicant has to Pre-register with the System for Award Management (SAM) using the following link
- The applicant has to click on the “Get Started” icon and complete the registration process by following the instructions.
- Before applying, prepare the required documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.

- NOTE: The SAM application process is free, but it can take time so be sure to get this taken care of right away. If the applicant is already registered with SAM, they do not need to do it again but they do need to ensure your registration remains active.
Step 2: Apply for Value Added Producer Grants (VAPG)
- To apply for Value Added Producer Grants (VAPG) the applicant has to approach Rural Development of U.S Department of Agriculture link
- The applicant has to fill in the application forms given by the concerned officer or the applicant can download the application form given in the following link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form.
- The Applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
- Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
- The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
- Concerned authorities will look into the application form and the submitted document.
- Once the process is completed, the applicant gets the notification through mail about the grant.
- The processing time this procedure takes up to 1- 3 months.

EligibilityEdit
- The producer-applicant must grow at least 51 percent of the raw commodity needed for the project on their own farm (owned or leased). Contracting production to another producer is not eligible.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The purpose of the Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) Program is to help U.S. agricultural producers enter into value-added activities. Awards may be made for either economic planning or working capital activities related to the processing and/or marketing of valued-added agricultural products. The maximum grant amount for a planning grant is $75,000 and the maximum grant amount for a working capital grant is $250,000.
